"The Rock"
Rhonda
is a Collector.
She
has had several collections off and on during her childhood.
She
collects seashells at the beach and she seems to find rocks interesting as
well.
When
Rhonda went to Camp Hardtner at about age 9 – 10. We packed her trunk and
delivered her to the camp. We returned, on schedule on the departure day to
pick her up. Several boys were handy and helped to put the trunk in the van
and we were off, bound for home.
Arriving
at home, I struggled to get the VERY HEAVY trunk into the house. I didn’t
remember it being that heavy when I packed it but Rhonda’s Dad had been
there to help me. Finally
settling in the laundry room, I opened the trunk to begin gathering her
laundry.
You
can just imagine my surprise to find an entire layer of Rocks / Boulders
taking up the entire top shelf of the trunk!
She
still has some of those rocks though not the boulders in her room today. I
have to admit that they always make me smile when I see them. It reminds me
how much Rhonda loves this great big world of ours and how, even as a child,
she found beauty in it. It also reminds me that she will never be completely
predictable!
